At the North Laurel Animal Hospital we are proud to provide clients with detailed solutions to their pet's weight management issues through our partnership with Purina Veterinary Diets. We have teamed up with Purina to offer you the Purina Weight Management Program consisting of a custom designed diet program and multiple technician visits to assess your pet's progress. We've seen several pets lose over 10 pounds thus far and are excited to expand this program to other patients in need!
Additionally, this program can help add weight to those pets who may be underweight by systematically tweaking their diet and adding calories through increased feedings or switching to calorie dense foods.
To spread awareness and inform owners of the capabilities of the Purina Weight Management Program, Purina has launched the ProjectPetSlimdown website. Project Pet Slimdown features several owners and their overweight pets on a quest to lose weight and make their pet's more healthy.
Check out the pictures below to see the progress made by a pug with a starting weight of 33 pounds. Over the course of 12 weeks, Stella followed a strict feeding and exercise regimen and lost 12% of her body mass (4 total pounds). The pictures speak for themselves! Notice the pronounced difference in circumference in the chest and abdomen areas.
Did you know that 45% of dogs and 58% of cats are overweight? Thats more than 80 million overweight pets in the U.S. Overweight pet's can suffer deteriorated health and shorter lives. They can also develop arthritis as a result of added weight and stress on joints. Don't let your pet remain obese.
